A Fallacy About Adoption Rights
Adoption is one of the subjects that has a lot of controversy on what is right or wrong,
and everyone thinks they know about it. In most cases, people’s opinions about adoption are
wrong. They do not have any first-hand experience with being adopted or its effects on the
people and families adopting a child. One fallacy about abortion is that adoptive parents make
better parents than ordinary people because they want a child so badly and have gone through so
much trouble to get one. This belief is false, as most adoptive parents are no better than those
who already have children. The idea that wanting a child so severely makes one a good parent is
wrong, as it all depends on the character and environment in which the child grows.
In most cases, the considerations depend on the amount of time, thought, love, and labor
shown into the child to make them good or bad. Raising a child right depends on the parent,
whether an adoptive parent or not, and the efforts shown distinguish a good parent from a bad
parent. Putting so the expectation that good parenting skill from an adoptive parent is wrong and
puts a burden on those parents to act as society requires of them, and it is an impossible standard
to live up to. These expectations may put a lot of strain on the child, and the parents, which goes
without saying, may affect the parent-child relationship. The adoptive parents may feel unsure
about themselves as they had gone through so much to get a child. In other cases, the parents
may transfer these unrealistic ideologies to the child.
