Hi Class,
There are 62 different types of metal that are used to manufacture modern smartphones and most of these metals are mined from third world countries and some with limited supplies. These raw materials are extracted for nothing or little compensation. The extraction of these resources have irreversible ecological changes and the extinction of the raw material which affects the environment and continous production of smartphone if the raw material is totally exhausted. Recycling requires energy, using waste from energy generates greenhouse gases and other pollutants to the environment. In fact, if something is not done to conserve or regenerate these raw material, the world may end up not having smartphones and the environment will be completely destroy that even drinking water may be difficult to get.
