Over the course of the term, you will be asked to write
four reflective journals structured around distinct
prompts related to the week’s material. These entries
should be at least 500 words long and no longer than 600
words. They should be clearly labelled with the prompt
(which is not included in your final word count), your
name, and formatted according to APA guidelines. You do
not need to cite outside material for these journals to do
well; however, if you do, you must reference the material
you cite.
To ensure a passing grade, before beginning your
assignment and before uploading your finished work,
consult the rubric.
Use the rubric as a guide to writing the assignment and a
checklist before uploading to guarantee you’ve included
all graded elements.
Overview
In this journal, I want you to consider the nature of
apologies, including the language, tone and context when
asking for forgiveness.
Write about a time when you needed to apologize for
an action.
Expand your answer by considering the following:
What was the situation that required the apology (make
sure to pick a personal example you feel comfortable
discussing)?
Where did the situation and the resulting apology take
place: first, second, or third space, or perhaps online,
during a call, or via text? Did the situation and the
apology happen in different places?
What contextual information would help the reader (your
professor) understand the situation? This is particularly
important if the apology happened in a cultural context
your professor would not have experienced.
Were you following cultural rules (either of your family,
group, or larger culture) when making your apology?
Was this a written or verbal apology?
What did you say or write?
Was your apology accepted?
How did you feel before and after your apology?

Download the APA @ Conestoga Paper Template: https://

Fill out the title page with your student information, and
remember to include a title.
Format: APA format
title page,
double spaced, indent the first line of each new
paragraph (no extra spaces between paragraphs) .
11- or 12-point sans-serif font, like Ariel or Calibri.
Use APA citations and references for any information you
learned from research beyond the class materials in
eConestoga.
Length: 500 to 800 words (not including the title page
and references)
First Paragraph: What? What happened? What did you
learn? What did you do? What did you expect? What was
different? What was your reaction?
Second Paragraph : So What? Why does it matter? What
are the consequences and meanings of your
experiences? How do your experiences link to your
academic, professional and/or personal development?
Third Paragraph: Now What? What are you going to do as
a result of your experiences? What will you do differently?
How will you apply what you have learned?
Grading Context: Marks will be higher for assignments
that offer specific details, creative analysis, and clear
reflection about personal cultural experiences.
Marking Quality Not Quantity: Answering all of the
suggested questions will often end up in a lower mark
because while there are many answers, they are all trivial
or offer no insight or analysis: remember that I’m looking
for quality of analysis over quantity of data.
