) to complete these homework problems. You will need to use SPSS to calculate your answers. Please submit your SPSS output and the answers to the homework problems.
Learning Objectives:1. Calculate answers to biostatistic problems, including one- and two-sided hypothesis testing, the relationship between confidence interval and p-values with two samples, null and alternative hypotheses, and two-sample z- and t- tests.2. Apply descriptive techniques commonly used to summarize public health data.3. Apply common statistical methods for inference.4. Use dataset Week 2 dataset WK2HW_HOSPITAL.sav for the following questions. Yes, you need to
utilize the SPSS this week again but you should be very familiar with this data by now!
Let’s open the hospital data from Week 2 again. (Week 2 dataset WK2HW_HOSPITAL.sav). We want
to compare the mean of the hospital stay by sex at this particular Pennsylvania hospital. Let’s assume that
the data are normally distributed and we are assuming that the SD for sexes are equal. So, is there a
difference in the mean hospital stay in Pennsylvania hospital by gender? (Please include SPSS output
here to receive credit. Separate SPSS spv. files will not be considered for grading purposes.)
