Disaster Management in Nursing Discussion Post

For this week’s discussion, we will be looking at local or national response protocols that were initiated during a disaster, and you will choose your topic! (Remember the discussion in week one about what signifies a disaster, not just a local emergency.)

Search for the following types of man-made disasters: hostage situation disasters, mass shooting disasters, multiple-vehicle or mass transit disasters with multiple critical injuries, and epidemics/pandemics. (Searching “after action report” for your disaster will assist you in answering all of the questions.)

In your initial post, describe the incident and address the following:

• Determine the incident type and explain your reasoning (types of incidents can be found here Links to an external site.).
• What resources were deployed for this incident?
• What protocols were implemented successfully during the incident, and which were unsuccessful?
• Discuss ways to improve the response to this type of incident in the future.

Support your answer with evidence from scholarly sources (reference and cite your sources).
