Strong healthcare foundation is essential to the functioning and effectiveness of the healthcare system. It is through healthcare reforms that healthcare issues affecting the population can be addressed. The patient protection and Affordable Care act addressed key requirements of the United States healthcare system and identified three aims: improving quality of care, reducing healthcare expenses, and increasing access to healthcare (Collins & Saylor, 2018). This historic legislation focused on promoting healthcare insurance markets, expanding Medicaid and preserve both employers and Medicare as a way of promoting and increasing access to healthcare services (Cleveland, Motter, & Smith, 2019).
For the past few years, healthcare delivery has undergone numerous changes, especially the roles of nurses in delivering safe and competent care. Nurses are integral in addressing healthcare issues, including financing of the healthcare concerns through legislators, policy makers, and administrators because of the need to close the gap between healthcare-related expenditure, funding the Medicare Trust, and insurance plan instability (Cleveland, Motter, & Smith, 2019). Quality of healthcare, healthcare costs, and availability of resources are now among the top priorities of the nursing profession (Cleveland, Motter, & Smith, 2019). Nurses remain uniquely in a position to shape the healthcare system, use their knowledge of the healthcare system, patient needs, and knowledge about the community. Nurses have the power to make changes in key discipline areas, including national health cost reduction, value-based healthcare reimbursement, and explore opportunities that will impact healthcare quality. To be major players in influencing healthcare reforms, nurse need to understand the factors driving the change, competencies, and mandates for practice change (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017). In addition to this, while delivering care, nurses need to focus on wellness and prevention and think about the patient beyond the current situation.

How healthcare reform is impacting health care
Healthcare reform is revolutionizing healthcare, and nurses should ensure that they are ready to adapt. The text explains that there are shortage of physicians, and the number is expected to rise over time. Therefore nurses should be ready to jump in since they are well suited to thrive. The training that nurses are granted in contemporary nursing school is enough to help them. However, states can make changes where they deem appropriate to help the nurses achieve their goals. That is because the shortage of physicians is expected to rise even higher over time.
Healthcare reform 101: What the health is going on in 2018?
Affordable Care Act (ACA) has introduced many health confusions for the general public, and that is asserted in the YouTube video. There are those who may end up paying very high premiums, even higher than they used to pay in the past. However, there are subsidies that can be used to help citizens to pay less. Most middle-class people qualify for subsidies unless their incomes are very high. It is imperative to note that there are also penalties for those who apply for subsidies illegally.
Healthcare transformation and changing roles for nursing
A new day has come for nurses, and they should be ready to take over the changing roles. Most nurses are qualified to treat patients, yet they are always on the sidelines carrying prescription drugs for physicians. Teamwork should be introduced where physicians can support nurses more so that the latter can participate in more activities. Nurses should be granted more healthcare responsibilities to participate in the new changes in healthcare. The reforms were strategically designed to accord nursing practitioners more responsibility and more respect.

How healthcare reform is impacting health care
The article concentrates on the growing demands that have been ascertained by healthcare reforms. Affordable Care Act (ACA) opened doors for millions of Americans to access healthcare, leading to a shortage of specialists (Bernazzani, 2016). Hence, the role of nursing practitioners should be increased since they have the training to cope. Nursing practitioners who are not well trained should be trained further to handle more responsibilities. The issues faced in different states will be solved in NPs are trained further to handle all the critical functionalities. Additionally, physicians must try and work with NPs on achieving their goals.
What the health is going on in 2018?
The video traces the changes which many Americans have to deal with because of the introduction of the Affordable Care Act. For instance, there are hardship allowances that cover those who live below the poverty line. They are more likely to get subsidies, which can ensure that they do not pay higher premiums. On the other side, those with relatively higher incomes cannot qualify for subsidies and they have to pay the higher premiums. Most importantly, the video proves that Affordable Care will not be affordable for everyone since the rich must pay higher premiums.
Healthcare transformation and changing roles for nursing
In the article, the healthcare environment is changing, and registered nurses must be ready to change with it. Affordable Care Act is keen on providing patient-centered care while eliminating fee-for-service care (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017). Thus, registered nurses have more responsibilities which they must be ready to accept. Nurses cannot care for patients alone without getting involved in other activities. Registered nurses should be allowed to prescribe drugs and also discharge patients who have showed signs of improvement.

Over the past years many people have been able to obtain insurance coverage as a result of ACA, as consequence more doctors and FNPs are needed to be able to meet the growing demands brought y the health care reforms. FNP are key to reaching this goal, they are many programs created to educate and train more NPs. If effectively integrated into the healthcare delivery system, greater use of nurse practitioners could provide much-needed respite in the midst of our dire primary care physician shortage. In 2018 The Affordable Care Act (AKA Obamacare) was implemented and having a plan of care or insurance was required. Also, ACA would add a tax penalty for anyone who did not purchase a qualified health insurance plan. A lot of people took advantage of the opportunity because the government was allowing lowers cost of health insurance for all qualified individuals. Some examples of carries offering health plans at lower cost was blue Cross Blue Shield, Molina, and Ambetter. (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017).
There is no doubt that nurses are poised to assume roles to advance health, improve care, and increase value. However, it will require new ways of thinking and practicing. Shifting your practice from a focus on the disease episode of care to promoting health and care across the continuum is essential. Truly partnering with patients and their families to understand their social context and engage them in care strategies to meet patient defined outcomes is essential. Gaining greater awareness of resources across the continuum and within the community is needed so that patients can be connected with the care and support needed for maximal wellness. Tracking outcomes as a measure of effectiveness and leading and participating in ongoing improvement to ensure excellence will require exquisite teamwork as excellence crosses departments, roles, and responsibilities. “Nurses can no longer take a back seat—the time has come for nursing, at the heart of patient care, to take the lead in the revolution to making healthcare more patient-centered and quality-driven” (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017).

Healthcare is one of the determinants of the prosperous state as it possesses a significant place in the state concern for citizens and prevention activities. Health care is necessary for the welfare of society, which forms the core of the state. It must be protected and improved by adopting laws because it remains the basis of the relations between authorities and citizens as well as employees of medicine and clients. Reforms of health care services guarantee the deepest confidence and the best quality of social interaction on all levels. It was with these bases that the Affordable Care Act was developed, and I believe that if has succeeded in its intention.
By the spring of 2016, the overall US uninsurance rate had fallen to 8.9%, the lowest level since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began collecting data in 1972 (Glied & Jackson, 2017). With the creation of the ACA, more Americans had access to affordable care than ever before, this included access to preventable care which has had a great impact in our primary care practices. States that participated in the Medicaid expansion (and therefore received the national components of the ACA as well as the Medicaid expansion) saw a 9.5 percentage point increase in insurance coverage, a 3.4 percentage point increase in reporting having a primary care doctor, and a 5.6 percentage point reduction in the probability of reporting cost being a barrier to receiving care (Courtemanche, 2018). This represents important increase in access to healthcare for the American people and a necessary change to improve the health of our communities.
However, despite its great benefits, it is debatable the economic effects this reform can demand. Due to the great toll on the government expenditure on these healthcare benefits, it has created lower revenues for healthcare providers as well as hospitals to fulfill needs. It is imperative to maintain a low cost of care and continues access. I believe that nurses are key element in the maintenance of our healthcare industry by providing cost effective high quality of care that can be trusted. Nursing has been shown to be a solution to many current Healthcare issues that we face in this new American era. Gratefully, the ACA has laid a solid foundation for the development of healthcare solutions.

Health Care Reform and Role of Nurse Practitioner
Health care reform policies are known to promote the quality of health care by providing all the individuals with increased and safe care services at decreased cost expenditure. Nurse Practitioners (NPs) with their advanced educational knowledge and clinical training skills are known to play an excellent role in addressing the shortcomings in the healthcare system due to the lack of the proper resources in preventing diseases and improving the health of the population. They are involved in providing the patients with direct care to promote positive health outcomes among the population (Erickson, 2016).
It is noted that the present primary healthcare workforce is unable to meet the emerging demands which were recently impelled by the health care reforms. This inability necessitates the federal and state governments to broaden the role of NPs in primary care settings to deliver the patients with effective and safe healthcare (Bernazzani, 2016). Reimbursement and the scope of practice requirements are the major barriers that a NP experiences with the emerging healthcare policies in the country. Hence, expanding the prime role of NPs in every primary care setting by removing all the obstacles helps in providing better and positive health outcomes in primary care settings (Bernazzani, 2016).
As per the Affordable Care act (ACA), health insurance coverage is provided to everyone eligible in the country in order to benefit from the essential health benefits and claim excellent quality and affordable healthcare services (AssuredPartners of Texas, 2017). Some of the common factors that are involved in the transformation of the healthcare system include the unsustainable cost and poor-quality concerns. This leads to the need for change in the role of nurse practitioners. Change in the role of NPs is known to create a transformative role in the healthcare system by providing the population with patient-centered, cost effective and better health outcomes which in turn are known to promote the overall healthcare system of the country (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017).
