The reading I posted below came to justify the rebellion against the Qin and to legitimize the establishment of the new Han Dynasty.
Read these selections, and then answer the following questions (type these up on a separate piece of paper, and then turn these in at the end of the class period).
1. What kind of background did the rebel leader, Ch’en She, have? Why do you think that the selections emphasize his background?
2. What conclusion does the first account, “The Faults of Ch’in,” reach when trying to explain the fall of the Qin (Ch’in) Empire?
3. Liu Chi was another rebel leader, and it was he who became the emperor of the new dynasty. What kind of rule does he promise his followers? What is the writer of this history trying to say about the new dynasty that was established?
