Notes for using the Data Analysis Add-in in EXCEL
    1. To check whether you have the add-in installed, run EXCEL. Go to the Tools
menu. If you can find “Data Analysis” as one of the menu items, then you have it.
Otherwise, choose the Add-ins menu item to install the add-in. (You need to have
the Microsoft Office or EXCEL disk ready before your installation.) After you
choose the Add-ins menu item, the system will ask you to choose which one you
wish to make available, choose “Analysis ToolPak” but selecting the check box
    and then click OK.
    2. To calculate Descriptive Statistics of a set of data, go to the Tools menu and
choose the Data Analysis menu item (it will be there if you have the add-in
installed). The Add-in will then ask you to choose an “Analysis Tool”. Choose
“Descriptive Statistics” and click OK. An input screen will appear as follows.
Complete the input screen by specifying:

Input range: Your data to be analysis
Grouped by: Tell the system where your data is in a column or row by click
    on the proper radio button
Check the Labels in First Row (Column) box if it is applicable
Check the box beside Summary Statistics (very important)
Results of the analysis will then show up in a separate worksheet.
    3. To create a histogram of a set of data, go to the Tools menu and choose the Data
Analysis menu item. The Add-in will then ask you to choose an “Analysis Tool”.
Choose “Histogram” and click OK. An input screen will appear as follows.
Complete the input screen by specifying:

Input range: Your data to be analyzed
Bin Range: Do not enter anything here for now. The system will calculate the
    range automatically
Check the Labels if a label (name) is in the first row
Check the box beside Chart Output
A histogram will then show up in a separate worksheet.
