1500 words social issue analysis

Assignment: The skills you have been practicing throughout the course will be assessed in this paper and conclude with you constructing your own argument on a position. Your argument can be a contradiction, a support. Whichever you choose should be sufficiently supported with materials covered throughout the course and your own outside research.

  • Summarize the position/argument researched and assess it for validity. This positions/argument should be presented in a clear logical form. This includes translating their rhetoric into: premises and a conclusion, identifying the category of propositions, and the quality and the quantity of the parts.
  • Identify the assumptions of the position by drawing inferences from its communicated proposition to its position regarding human dignity.
  • Construct a valid and sound argument that contradicts, challenges, or improves the position of the organization.
  • At least three academic peer-reviewed sources are required for this paper.

    Social Issues Research
In this course you will be asked to do independent research on a topic that is of interest to you
and keep that topic for the semester. As researcher, it is often difficult to know where to begin
any undertaking, so our library has put together some starting points on various prominent social
issues of our day. This list is not exhaustive and to be successful you will need to add your own
    research.
For research in the course each assignment requires academic peer-reviewed material. This
includes academic journals or published academic level books. Ask your professor about sources
if you have questions. For example, the Salem Press Encyclopedia that is linked in this document
is not a peer-reviewed journal, but is a good academic source for beginning research. Finally, do
not limit your research to academic journals.
    Databases:
Opposing Viewpoints is a great database to use when looking for information about large current
issues. It contains broad topic overviews, viewpoints on both sides of the issue, news articles,
journal articles, and videos. It includes over 14,000 viewpoint essays, 5,000 topic overviews, 300
primary source documents, 300 biographies of social activists and reformers, 775 court case
overviews, 5 million journal articles, 6,000 statistical tables, charts, graphs and over 70,000
images as well as thousands of podcasts:

Issues and Controversies is another database that contains content similar to Opposing

Research Starters are detailed overviews of topics. Great for finding general information on large
issues. To find them, from the library homepage, click “Find Journal Articles.”
In the LopeSearch Box at the top of the page, type the concept you want to look up (For
example: social media). Do not check peer reviewed or choose a subject, just hit the Search
    button.
Once you have signed in, you will be on the search results page. If there is a Research Starter for
the concept, it will be the first result. It will be labeled “Research Starter” and will have an image
    next to it.
