AIS Using Blockchain to Solve Identity Management and Theft Issues Project
TOPIC: Using blockchain to solve identity management and theft issue
In the assessment, blockchain is used to describe any case of a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). While a blockchain is a sub-class of DLT, the solution may include other non-blockchain DLT’s.
For this assessment you will present an application portfolio in which you have created a blockchain solution to a specific problem or opportunity you have defined (a case study in this instance). The definition of the case will follow a systems design methodology but the creation of the blockchain solution will be a practical application.
=========
You will develop a prototype using an appropriate DLT development environment. The prototype needs to accurately reflect the requirements and design elements specified.
1. The design elements and prototype will contribute to your application portfolio. In addition to these elements, the portfolio will also include a report that includes:- The design elements with descriptions of what and how they are applied to the case problem/opportunity.- A description of the prototype and evidence of it working, for example, screen dumps.- A description of how your solution meets the functional and non-functional requirements and those you may have missed. Include explanations of why some were not done.- A critical assessment of your performance that reflects on your expectations and what you have learned.
2. Report length:10 Pages (not include Cover Sheet, Table of Contents, List of Figures/Tables), at least 5000 words
3. Development environment: Ideally Solidity, but any suitable DLT is fine

The Project Description
On this project we aim to make the good use of Blockchain technology towards the
protection of the personal identity. This would greatly help the users who spend most of their
time online by assuring them that no third party actor who can misuse their identity. Before we
dive need into the topic lets first understand the actual problem, personal identity is nothing but a
collection of your personal claim. This is the data that we aim to protect which include items
such as the passport number, your date of birth, social security number, Physical address,
National Identity Number, driving license number among other collection of claims regarding
you as a person. It is the above personal information that are stored in centralized databases for
government or any other important use. There is need to protect the data for it not to be used
while a bad actor is exploiting known flows or even from being stolen
On this project we are going to look into details on how Blockchain technology can be
used to prevent any misuse or theft of personal identity by ensuring that person using the identity
is the actual person rather than an imposter.
Problem Definition and Motivation
In our work, we are going to address the issue of identity management and theft issue. By
using Blockchain technology we can build a platform with an aim of protecting individual
identity and thus greatly reduce the resulting fraudulent activities. An overview of the solution
would be by organizing the personal data in a such a way there are private key which have access
to and the public key which can be used by the public to access your personal information
without editing them.

By using the technology in an effective way we can help business and organization to
build a strong Blockchains that handle the issues of authentication for its customers as well as
employees. In additional, the newly created Blockchain backed identity management record
would allow individual to encrypt their identity and thus replacing the need to have use password
and username in every online platform that one lodge in, this is in additional to the increased
security that the new technology is going to offer to various customers and institutions. This is
basically the creation of self-sovereign identity on Blockchain which is difficulty to steal as it is
maintained and controlled by an individual.
Objectives and Motivations
By using the Blockchain technology on the management of the personal identity, we aim
to achieve the following:
i.
To reduce fraud and theft involving personal identity data such as national ID,
password and username among others by utilizing the public-private key to ensure the
control of the items.
ii.
To ensure the accessibility of personal identity throughout the world as the records
are decentralized and every user can be able to verify the identity.
iii.
To provide a onetime self-sovereign identity that can be used everywhere in the
internet.
Stakeholders
The following individuals and organizations would be involved in the process of
developing the project which involve using Blockchain to Solve Identity Management and Theft
Issue. They include:
BLOCKCHAIN ON IDENTITY ISSUE
i.
Project manager who is in charge of the whole project.
ii.
The team member who would actively be involved in the project execution process.
iii.
Sponsor, this are the individuals who are financing the project/
iv.
Investors.
v.
Vendors of the third party tools to accomplish the project.
vi.
Suppliers for the resources to be consumed by the project team.
vii.
Customers who are the project end users.
viii.
Finance manager.

Requirements
In term of hardware requirement, the user would only need an internet access and a
device capable of accessing web. For a more specific requirement consideration then we can
categories the following them into either functional requirement or non-fictional requirement,
(Leffingwell, 2011).
Functional Requirement
The project is expected to be able to produce the required transaction report as well as
the historical data, the system is also expected to meet the set legal requirement in terms of
data security. The proposed system should be able to interface with the other third party
systems without compatibility issues in additional to meeting the outlined business rules.
Non-functional Requirement
The project is expected to meets various needs such as the security needs, performance
consideration, ensure accessibility, Interoperability, cost consideration, data recovery.

Organization Level Processes (1-2)
Business Process
This includes the proposed project task that would ensure that the end user have their
need accomplished by producing the required product or service. This in additional includes the
set of processes that would ensure that the above outline project objectives and motivations. To
outline some of the business process, we will need to point out to the management processes
which govern the operation of the project and outline the core business process of the project.

The above diagram outlines the system overview, with the key feature outlining how the
users can be able to create and manage their own identity using private and public key without
the need for a centralized system. The key feature includes the identity contract which represent
the user identity, an owner account which holds the identity and the user who create and
manages the transactions. The voter group controls all the whole process by ensuring verification
of the transactions. In this case the transactions relate to the use of the owners’ identity.
