FU Small Group Communication Discussion

Describe the roles of each member and what behavior (verbal or nonverbal) the group member exhibited for you to choose a label.

Amy- Amy was rude and very controlling and a know it all – substantive leader – The substantive leader is the “idea person” who communicates “big picture” thoughts and

suggestions that feed group discussion.

Avalon- Avalon was easy going – EXPEDITER- expeditor is a task-related role that functions to keep the group on track toward completing its task by managing the agenda and setting and assessing goals to monitor the group’s progress.

Amber- Amber provided great feedback – The procedural leader is the person who gives the most guidance, perhaps following up on the ideas generated by the substantive leader.

Jasmine- myself , I’d say i was the recorder takes notes on the discussion and activities that occur during a group meeting. -The recorder is the only role that is essentially limited to one person at a time since in most cases it wouldn’t be necessary or beneficial to have more than one person recording.

What hindered your group? (Again, discuss this in terms of the information from your text.)

If i had to choose something that hindered the group it would be the Monopolizer ( summary this section. And the aggressor and me becoming a doormat to the group assignment.
