WIND ENERGY
The technological advancement has brought about the desire to move from nonrenewable to renewable sources of energy. As a result, the United States has ventured into the harvest of wind power and its use in various states. However, the move led to several environmental controversies in the perspective of environmentalists. The various arguments which arose, concerned mainly efficiency and ability of this power to meet the energy requirement (Wang, In Kang, C., & In Ren, 2017). Its inability to provide sufficient energy made people feel that it should be eliminated since it was associated to have a negative impact to the environment.
The experiences of controversies are due to the production of noise by the wind turbines as they generate power. Additionally, since some of the turbines are situated along bird pathways, it has led to the death of wildlife birds, thus contributing to biodiversity reduction. The other controversy being brought about by the establishment of wind turbines is the environmental look it manifest on the region it is developed (Pasqualetti, Gipe, & Righter, 2002). On the other hand, due to the fact that majority of turbines and stations are in remote areas, overhead transmission cost is high hence its effectiveness is reduced (Smout, 2008). These comprise the major issues of controversies. Its supporters, however, argue that wind power is environmental friendly, clean, creates jobs, do not use water and also that it is renewable.
