please respond to the following discussion post as a peer making a comment. ” Management models are particularly useful for learners to understand new concepts, to understand what has been learned through experience, a structure to facilitate continued understanding through reflection, and a basis for learner assessment and program evaluation (Hargett, 2017). I am currently not in a healthcare leadership role, but my long-term goal is to become a healthcare leader. My professional identity has changed over the years with the different roles that I have held throughout my career. The more I learn how to become a leader the more I realize this is something that I have been working on since I entered the healthcare profession. One of the leadership models that I have found the most useful is the Duke Healthcare Leadership Model. “The five competencies around the circle (Emotional Intelligence, Teamwork, Critical Thinking, Integrity, and Selfless Service) could be in any leadership model” (McCausland, 2020). Thinking about this model helps me keep true to myself, my beliefs, and my values.

Professional identity 5 years ago was just the new girl that has never worked in healthcare. It was a big learning experience to start in healthcare, it was something that I had never done before, and found the challenge exciting. The more I learned about being involved in healthcare the more I realized I wanted to have a healthcare career. I have been in about 5 or 6 different positions while I have worked in healthcare. Each position taught me something different that I believe is going to help me become a better leader. In the next 5 years, I want to move into a leadership role within the information technology department (IT). Currently, I work within the IT department and would like to work my way up into a leadership position and take everything that I have learned about being a leader and put it into practice.
