Assignment Description
You will create this assignment following the Assignment Detail instructions below.
Review the tutorial How to Submit an Individual Project.
Note: Refer to the learning resources in this unit to help you with this assignment.
For this assignment, you will create an initial design for a relational database. Examples of the purpose for the database could be for a human resources department, a student
management system, a retail inventory system, or any other use you can think of.
Step 1. You will determine the purpose of your database. (e.g., Local Coffee Shop inventory system). Be sure to explain what your database will be doing to support the
organization. Do not just state the organization’s name or type.
Step 2. Determine what types of data your database will store. (e.g., products, prices, vendors, inventory, etc.)
Step 3. Create at least four tables using MS Word or other software to show the columns in each table. If you create the tables in other software, you will need to copy/paste or
insert them into your Word document.
Example of one table:
Item_ID Category Name Vendor Quantity Our_Cost Price
TIPS:
Each table must have a different purpose.
The columns within each table must relate to the purpose of the table.
A table is a thing (e.g. Products)
A column describes a thing (e.g. Cost, Category, Name, etc.)
Each table must have its own primary key (e.g. Item_ID)
Step 4. Fill out 23 rows in each of the 4 tables. If you create and add your rows of data to the tables in other software, you will need to copy/paste or insert them into your Word
document.
