You must submit a 5-7 page paper (not counting any title or the reference pages). Your paper should use 12 point font (Times New Roman, Calibri or Arial), and be double-spaced. You cannot use any AI generated text. Do not use language translation software to translate text beyond the phrase level. Detection software will flag it and you will lose points. You must compose the clauses in English yourself. You can, however, apply grammar and style checkers afterwards to correct and revise your text. You must use at least 6 scholarly sources. If your paper does not have any sources, in-text citations, or a bibliography, you will not receive any credit for the assignment. If the paper is written by someone other than you (you can receive revision advice and grammar checking from others, but the language of the paper should be either yours or properly cited source referenced language), you will not receive any credit.

DIRECTIONS

Step 1: Open a new document. Add your name, class information, and title in proper MLA format.

Step 2: Create headings for the parts of your paper: (Section 1: Introduction & Relevant Background Literature; Section 2: Method, Evidence, & Findings; Section 3 Discussion & Conclusion). Also make sure to have a page for your bibliography.

Step 3: Use your previous essays to choose a beginning thesis statement (the best thesis you have created so far). Find more sources to expand what you know about the topic in relation to your thesis. Then begin filling in/writing the Evidence and Findings Section. Also mention any evidence or findings in this section that may seem to contradict your thesis (maybe you think of something or find something new). Refrain from making judgements about the evidence here. You are doing your best to organize and describe the facts. The “why” part of the analysis is more fitting for the discussion section.

Step 4: Begin writing the Discussion Section. Reference the “evidence,” and explain how it supports your thesis. In other words, make an argument as to what the evidence means. This is also your chance to explain away potential contradictions found in the evidence.

Step 5: Write a conclusion following your discussion (it is okay if you could not account for all the “data”). Now write the introduction (summarize and synthesis the sources used as modelled in the citation grouping activity). Update your thesis (or hypothesis) if necessary.

Step 6: Check your introduction: does it summarize/synthesis relevant background information; is a problem established; does the paper’s thesis address this problem? — If you did all three, you are a researcher 🙂

The paper should be double-spaced, approximately 5- 7 pages long, and in a common, 12 point font. It should be in MLA format. You must use at least 6 sources. If you cite yourself, here is an example.

The Qur’an: The God’s Word
“Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honorable messenger [Jibrael
(Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).” 81:19 Qur’an. This verse
shows how the prophet received the first verses of the Qur’an, and he has been receiving it for 23
with the last verse, “This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed my favor upon
you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion” 5:3 Qur’an. Muslims believe in the
previous books of the Abrahamic faiths as words of God, but they don’t accept the new versions
because all the other books have been corrupted and changed, except for Qur’an, which is
preserved very well as the first version. Furthermore, Qur’an is the only religious book with no
scientific errors, so with high preservation and no single scientific mistake, Qur’an surely is the
word of God.
First, the preserving of the Qur’an itself is proof that the Qur’an is the word of God
because God says, “Indeed, it is We who sent down the message [i.e., the Qur’ān], and indeed,
We will be its guardian.” Quran. Even though there were many attempts to change it, we still
have pages from 1377 years ago, Which means during the life span of the prophet, at
Birmingham University, identical to the ones we have. In addition, one of the key aspects of the
Qur’an’s preservation is its accurate oral transmission. The Qur’an was recited by Mohammed
and memorized by his companions. This oral tradition continued with high precision, with

Muslims reciting it and memorizing it from generation to generation. Nowadays, only in
Morocco, one million people memorize the Qur’an letter by letter. Additionally, The written
preservation of the Qur’an played an essential role in Its protection as well.
Secondly, the scientific accuracy of the Quran makes it the only religious book with no
scientific mistakes, which makes it indeed the words of god because the Quran also mentioned
many unknown facts back then, but those facts were later verified by science. For example, the
Qur’an accurately states the stages of embryonic development, highlighting the formation of
organs and the gradual development of the fetus. God said in the Quran: “Then We made the
sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made
[from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into
another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators.” 23:14 Qur’an. Another example is, “It
is he [Allah] who made the sun a shining light and the moon a derived light” 10:5 Qur’an. This
verse clearly shows that the sun is a light source and the moon is an object that reflects light,
which has been It was confirmed later by science.
Also, many non-Muslim scholars agree with the fact that the Quran
However, Some people often argue that the Qur’an’s perfect literature can be related to
human authorship rather than divine revelation. They suggest that Mohammad wrote it by
himself. Mohammad was known for his speaking skills, as most Arabs back then, but he
couldn’t read or write, and the unique style, linguistic precision, and profound content of the
Qur’an surpassed the abilities of any human being. In fact, The Qur’an itself challenged the Arabs
back then and humans in general to bring something perfect like Qur’an; God says, “And if you

are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a
surah [chapter] the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be
truthful.” Quran 2:23. Until this day, this challenge remains an undefeated challenge. Moreover,
Qur’an had many predictions back then. For example, “The Byzantines have been defeated(2) In
the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome(3) Within three to nine years. To
Allāh belongs the command [i.e., decree] before and after. And that day, the believers will
rejoice(4) In the victory of Allāh. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in
Might, the Merciful(5).” 30:2-5 Qur’an. This verse was revealed to the Prophet before the series
of events mentioned happened.
To sum up, the careful preservation and the accuracy of the content of the Qur’an make it
the words of God. Through God’s saving and human diligence, Qur’an kept its basic version.
Also, by scientific verification of the content of the Qur’an, we can verify that Qur’an is the most
perfect book ever. Lastly, I invite all believers to read the Qur’an with a neutral heart that just
wants to find the truth.

Is It God’s Word?
Is the Quran God’s words? We believe as Muslims that it is the word of god because the
Qur’an has been preserved through history, and the prophecies and scientific evidence prove this
fact to us. Also, It is the only religious book with no contradictions or errors, as God says: “Do
they not then reflect on the Quran? Had it been from anyone other than Allah, they would have
certainly found in it many inconsistencies” (The Qur’an4:82). However, many people don’t
accept it as the word of God because they say that the scientific evidence is not enough to
confirm that the Quran is the word of God, whereas others may say that the preservation is not
enough to ensure that the Quran is the word of God. Perhaps looking at the facts makes you
believe or disbelieve.
First, according to Andrew Rippin in his book The Blackwell Companion to the Qur’an,
the scientific accuracy of the Quran is remarkable, but different interpretations of certain verses
may change as scientific understanding evolves. Some verses of the Qur’an can be seen as
consistent with scientific knowledge, but some passages have been interpreted differently or seen
as metaphorical by Muslim and non-Muslim scholars. Therefore, the argument that the scientific
accuracy of the Qur’an proves its divine origin is not accepted universally (Rippin, 2006). In
addition, others suggest that during the process of preservation of the Quran, there is a possibility
of unintentional errors that could have occurred. For instance, Nicolai Sinai, a professor of
Islamic studies at the University of Oxford, says: “The process of preserving the Quran, while
remarkable, was not immune to the potential for human error. With the oral transmission and
subsequent written compilation, there was always the possibility of variations, omissions, or
unintentional mistakes creeping into the text over time.”(Sinai, 2017).
Alobaid 2
Even though the preservation of the Quran does not seem convincing to non-Muslims, the
fact that Muslims must recite the Qur’an in groups because Muslims must pray in groups if it is
possible shows how it has been preserved; furthermore, it is obligatory to recite the Quran in
prayer, so Muslims recite it during their prayers five times every day since the time of the
prophet to this day. Additionally, during the holy month of Ramadan each year, Muslims recite
the Quran from the beginning to the end of it during the fasting hours. Those facts are enough to
tell that the Quran has not and will not be changed or corrupted because it is hard to change
something known to everyone, from the elder to the children.
Finally, the scientific accuracy of the Quran shows that it is the truth because it is not
only accurate, It has no errors or contradictions. Compared to other religions’ scriptures, for
example, in the Bible, “Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned
one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri, king of
Israel”(Kings 8:26) and “Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned
one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri”(Chronicles
22:2). There is a numerical contradiction in those two verses, which Christian scholars changed
recently in the new version of (NIV) The New International Version. Those contradictions do not
exist in Quran, but they may have many interpretations of one verse. However, the fact that
Qur’an could have different interpretations does not disprove its purity because Arabic is a poetic
language, and it uses metaphors a lot. Also, if there are many interpretations and one is correct,
does that mean it is incorrect? No, because as long as one interpretation can be correct, Qur’an
can not be disproved. In addition, the prophecies in the Quran are many, and they all occurred.
Alobaid 3
Many Muslim and non-Muslim historians prove the validity of the prophecies and historical
events, such as Ibn Hashim, who wrote the biography of the prophet.
Since the preservation of the Qur’an and its scientific accuracy are not enough evidence to
prove its divine origin, believers must consider different criteria in order to make such a claim.
However, the fact that it is not enough evidence does not make it wrong because ignorance of
something does not mean it is wrong. Also, according to John Esposito that engaging with the
Qur’an respectfully and seeking a deeper understanding of its teachings and messages can
provide valuable insights, regardless of one’s religious beliefs (Esposito, 2011). By reading the
Quran with an open mind and searching for its facts and history, the truth seekers will find the
truth as the Bible says: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”(John
8:32).
