It is fascinating to see how much influence media companies have on our daily lives. They affect
how we spend our time, money, and attention. They have even changed forever how we
communicate with each other.
Media consumption is always changing, and one thing we know is that unless businesses learn
to adapt, they will be left behind. A prime example discussed this week is Blockbuster and the
digital boom of Netflix. With the way consumption is trending, it may be worth
considering whether cable TV will follow the same trend of Blockbuster.
The same consumption and evolution trends can be applied to other forms of traditional media
as well. Respond to the following questions as it relates to the evolution of the media. Provide
examples to support your response. Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

Predict how you think the media landscape will change in 5 years. How about in
15 years?
Share why it is important for us to think about the direction the media is headed. How
big of a role do we play in how the media changes?
Evaluate the impact of discontinuing a form of traditional media in favor of newer
technology. Are the consequences generally positive or negative?
Discuss how continual access to media in recent years changed how we view or value it
compared to times past.
