COMM 103 DAC The Interests of The Lgbtq Community Paper
Final Paper Proposal Assignment
Final papers can be about any documentaries and any themes; it can be a compare and contrast situation, or it can still be a case study of a specific style or genre of documentaries, like crime or food or sports. Papers need to have detailed analysis of at least one scene or sequence. The films should be analyzed in a similar way as to what we are doing in class – examine structural visual elements, details about shot composition and camera angles used, sound design (including sound effects if they were used) & soundtracks.
Final Paper Proposals can be written in paragraph form or can be in the form of an outline; either way is fine; the more detailed the better, you are being graded on how specific and how much thought you have put into the proposal. You should be sure to use the terms and film analysis that we have learned in the class when discussing your chosen documentaries. When submitting the final paper (not this proposal), you should list a time stamp when you are referring to a specific scene in your paper; example 00:10:30 or 10 min. and 30 sec into the film.
You are still required to list at least 3 additional bibliographic resourcesfor the final paper; they can be academic articles and/or magazine and/or newspaper and/or reputable online publication. They can also be film reviews (must be longer than a paragraph) or interviews with the filmmakers or an article about the film’s subject matter. You may use the books for the class as one and only one of your bibliographic resources as a fourth resource, but you must find 3 original resources. It is fine to list more than 3 bibliographic resources.
