Please watch the 2 short videos below AND read (at least) 1 of the short articles, “Microinvalidations are Real and They Can Have a Big Impact,” “Study Finds Racial Bias in Police Traffic Stops and Searches,” or ” All College Students Should Take a Mandatory Course on Black History and White Privilege” and REACT to it.

When thinking about white privilege, don’t think about it connected to working hard for what you have or wealth. This assignment is NOT about that. I want you to think about invisible privileges. I love this quote and want you to think in these terms: “White privilege doesn’t mean your life hasn’t been hard. It means the color of your skin isn’t one of the things making it harder”.

What do you think about all this?

Some things to consider writing about—what do you think about the idea of privilege? Do you see yourself as coming from a position of privilege or not (again, don’t think about your family’s wealth or lack of it)? Why? Do you think white privilege is real? Why or why not? What do you think should be done to make the world a more level playing field? Have you ever lived in/ traveled to a country where citizens lacked privilege due to circumstances OTHER than wealth/ working hard? What was that
