Communications Question

you had the time and resources to do so. The research proposal should include a literature review and a method section. You do not actually have to collect data for this paper. The literature review (approximately five pages) should be a coherent argument leading to a set of hypotheses or research questions. Be sure to address the following questions in the literature review:1). What topic of family communication does your study address? Why is this topic important from a practical perspective?2). Which theory or model is guiding your study? You can incorporate theories and models discussed in class or theories and models not discussed in class. At a minimum, you must incorporate at least one theory or model.3). Define the key concepts or terms relevant to your paper. Explain your theory or model’s main logic.4). What are your hypotheses and research questions? Hypotheses predict a relationship between two or more variables. Research questions ask whether or not a relationship exists between two or more variables, or ask what themes will emerge from open-ended data. The hypotheses and research questions should logically follow from your review of theories, models, concepts, and past research findings. Therefore, the literature review should be an ARGUMENT leading up to the hypotheses or research questions. The literature review should NOT be a simple summary of past research findings. Please ask me if you are unsure about how to write a hypothesis or research question. I can help make sure that your wording is clear. In addition to obtaining my feedback, you can review the journal articles that are required readings on Canvas for examples of hypotheses and research questions. The method section (approximately two pages) should outline the steps you would take if you were to actually conduct the study. Be sure to address the following questions in the method section:1). What are the characteristics of your sample (e.g., who will you be studying)?2). How will you gain access to the participants?3). How many participants will you need?4). Does your study involve an experiment, a survey, a content analysis, open-ended interviews, or some other method? Be sure to include the measures or other instruments you will administer to participants (e.g., a description of the manipulations for an experiment, a list of closed-ended questions for a quantitative survey, a coding scheme or codebook for a content analysis, a full interview protocol for open-ended interviews). The measures and instruments can go in an appendix that does not count toward the seven-page limit. The paper should be typed (double-spaced, one-inch margins, Times New Roman font) in APA format. APA format requires a title page and full references list, which you need to include for this paper. Although abstracts are also required for APA papers, you do not need to include an abstract for this paper. The paper must incorporate a minimum of six scholarly sources. Scholarly sources include peer-reviewed journal articles, handbook chapters, chapters in books written by professors, and encyclopedia entries. Scholarly sources do not include articles on popular press websites. You can use course readings as supplemental sources, but course readings do not count toward the minimum of six outside scholarly sources. Please do not cite class lecture in the proposal. If certain content appears in lecture that you want to incorporate, look for the same idea in a course reading or an outside article. It is almost always better to paraphrase content from academic sources rather than quoting directly. Paraphrasing content will improve the flow of your writing.
