Digitalization has expanded the quantity of data flowing, and security breaches are
increasingly scaling up with that as well. The security breach that was recently
experienced by Taobao a shopping site owned by Alibaba is a perfect example of such
security breaches. Utilizing crawler software, a hacker working for an internet marketer
stole user data from a Chinese e-commerce website, Alibaba for over eight months (Liu,
2021). Alibaba was the target of content scrapping by a social media marketer, which
harvested sensitive information such as userid and contact numbers. The programmer
and his firm appear to have gathered the data for their purposes rather than selling it on
the illicit market.
A good way to prevent scrapping is by using an anti-scraping bot. Web usage
mining is a programmed bot threat in which thieves harvest data on a site for illicit
purposes like reselling information, undercutting prices, and so on. An effective bot
identification and anti-crawler defense solution would help to perceive user behaviors
that exhibit indicators of data extraction instantaneously and instantly stop harmful bots
before actually scraping attacks unfold, all while ensuring a seamless usage for the real
people (Xu et al., 2018). A bot is certain and should have the capacity to analyze
tangible and intangible technical and social data to better identify deceitful traffic and
restrict web scraping devices.
I would advise the company to keep an eye on new or established user accounts
that have a lot of activity but no transactions. They should also be able to recognize
unusually high item views as a hint of non-human behavior. It’s also a good idea to keep
an eye on competitors’ activities for indicators of costs and product inventory matching,
which can help them avoid scrapping (Xu et al., 2018). They should also make sure that
site terms & conditions are followed to block fraudulent web scraping. Bot security

skills combined with deep psychological profiling can also be used to identify rogue
chatbots and prevent site scraping.
