gender roles

PART ONE:

Significant cultural categories of any given society include the ways in which men and women are expected to behave and interact in society. This behavior is often called the assignment of gender roles. Stereotypes about gender roles are common and are learned from a very young age.

Use the internet to select 2 different sources that reflect gender roles that are identified in videos, artwork, poetry, or music.   Make sure you follow MLA or APA guidelines for citations, works cited page, etc.

PART TWO:

Please prepare a 1 page summary for each source that you find and identify the following information:

Explain the gender role that is depicted within the source this can include gender expression

Identify specific phrases, jokes, lyrics (if using poems or songs) etc. that clearly reference any gender specific stereotype(s)

Identify any additional cultural themes that relate to expectations concerning behavior within family and society, or you may write about broad themes such as indulgent vs. restrained, low context vs. high context, etc. that are identified in the sources
