For this CRA, you’re drawing from RDT and CPM. Both of these theories address relational maintenance, but they do so in different ways. In your essay, address the prompts below.

Ch. 11 (relational dialectics) – Answerat least one

1. Keeping in mind the six tensions that RDT proposes, identify one gender- or culture-specific internal and one gender- or culture-specific external tension. Then, use a real life example to explain to the internal and external tensions. You may want to link to a journal article or current event article that supports your answer.

2. Compare the approach to relational communication championed by Baxter and Montgomery with either social penetration theory or uncertainty reduction theory (e.g., identify an axiom). How would you assess/evaluate the insights and value of each theory? Use a real-life example to support your answer.

3. People become co-owners of information through different means. Explain both routes to becoming a co-owner and what the implications are for one’s felt/perceived level of responsibility. Use a real life example in your response.
