Case Study 1: Nike
Nike’s Dream Crazy Campaign included an advertisement that highlighted one of the most sensitive
issues of the Black Lives Matter movement—biased policing. Nike used NFL player Colin Kaepernick as
its spokesperson for this ad campaign. Kaepernick chose to kneel during the United States national
anthem prior to a game, which was seen as controversial. Thereafter, he was unable to secure a
contract with another NFL team.

The brand released a “diverse” ad campaign that featured 24 models of different genders between the
