1) TOPIC Select a disease process is: Educational Health Campaign for Type 2 Diabetes
In response to the urgent issue of type 2 diabetes in my locality, the objective of this health promotion initiative
is to enhance consciousness and execute preventive measures that are culturally appropriate and attuned to the
heterogeneous population. According to Hill-Briggs et al. (2021), the prevalence of type 2 diabetes has increased
to around 15% of the adult population worldwide, making it a substantial health concern that necessitates a
comprehensive and culturally sensitive strategy to tackle. As Im (2018) reveals, it is critical to comprehend the
cultural dynamics of my community for the success of any health promotion. As such, the initial step will
constitute an exhaustive evaluation of the prevalent cultural practices, beliefs, and health behaviors within the
community. Through active participation in dialogues with community leaders, local organizations, and
residents, I will acquire significant knowledge regarding the distinctive obstacles and prospects associated with
culturally sensitive health promotion. By doing so, I will be able to customize my intervention strategies,
outreach initiatives, and educational materials to correspond with the cultural inclinations and standards of my
community.
The educational component of my initiative will employ various communication channels to distribute
knowledge regarding the criticality of embracing a healthy lifestyle and the risk factors associated with type 2
diabetes. In particular, I will produce pamphlets, posters, and online resources that are culturally sensitive and
available in multiple languages that are widely spoken within my community, and I will coordinate community
seminars and lessons under the guidance of healthcare experts well-versed in the cultural milieu. Moreover, I
will collaborate with local community centers, places of worship, and institutions to ensure that the message
reaches individuals of all ages and backgrounds, thus maximizing the project’s impact

F. Interview – 10 points/10%
• Once the student has become familiar with the disorder, it is their responsibility to locate an individual
living with the disease process to interview (interviewee). It is recommended that you find an individual
first, then complete research and writing on the topic prior to performing the interview.
▪ The interviewee must be at least 18 years old and able to answer questions by themselves
▪ The interviewee must currently have a chronic disease/disorder. If an interviewee has been diagnosed
with a disease/disorder but has NO manifestations or complications related to the disorder they DO
NOT qualify for the assignment.
▪ Acute infections/diseases DO NOT qualify (pneumonia, urinary tract infection, flu, colds).
▪ The interviewee cannot be a patient from the clinical setting or a patient from your work environment
(hospitals, doctor’s office, LTC facility, home health, etc.)
▪ The interviewee may be a relative, friend, colleague, or stranger.
▪ Please use the individual’s own words in relation to their experience with the disease/disorder.

they have good family support, feel hopeless, optimistic, good coping mechanisms?)
