Hostos Conflicts Communication Climate and Confirming Messages Discussion

look at the section of your text “Communication Climate and Confirming Messages” as well as your chapter on conflict.  Because these topics have quite a bit of overlap, I decided to combine them in one paper.

Think of any relationship that you are in; it could be with a significant other, friend, family member, co-worker, boss… anyone.

I would like you to consider the different types of confirming messages, as well as the different types of disconfirming message patterns that operate in that specific relationship. Please use the specific language/ terms from this section of the chapter (and don’t forget to cite the passages). Also discuss the role that conflict plays in your relationship.

Things to consider:

-What is your general conflict style and how does it contribute to the climate of your relationship?

-Do you have multiple conflict styles or just one? Is it appropriate?  Why or why not?

-What conflict patterns do you see in your life?  Are they working?  If not, what do you need to change to make conflict more productive in your life?

– If there are disconfirming messages at play, what changes could you make in the relationship to change the communication climate?
