Assignment 2 –Screen DesignFIU is hosting a scavenger hunt for teams of between 3 to 5 people. All team members must wear
matching shirts with FIU’s logo and a team name. Each team leader must place only one order for all of
the team’s shirts. You have been asked to design one screen that will be used for taking the shirt
orders.
The information that must be collected from the user on the order screen includes:
1. Customer name
2. Customer address, city, state, zip
3. Customer phone number
4. Customer email address
5. Customer payment method (credit card, Paypal, or check)
6. Shirt type (short sleeve, long sleeve, or sleeveless muscle shirt)
7. Shirt color (white, blue, or gold)
8. Shirt size (small, medium, large, or extra large)
9. Number of shirts in each size
10. Team name
11. Delivery option (pick up or ship to customer)
12. Express shipping option
Each shirt costs $10 and the form must display the total order cost. It must provide buttons to place the
order, to clear the form, and to cancel the order/exit the application.
Tasks:
Step 1 – Your first task is to create a sketch of your interface on paper to layout your design (similar to a
simple paper prototype, but it does not need to include interactions as shown in the video we saw in
class). Create at least 3 different layouts, and then choose the one that you believe will produce the
most usable result.
Create a Word document that includes :
1) Images of your 3 paper prototypes and indicate which is your selected design
2) List the usability goals, design principles, human cognitive capabilities/limitations and theories
and visual structure principles you used to select your best sketch, and describe how you used
them
a. IMPORTANT: BE EXPLICIT ABOUT WHICH USABILITY GOALS, DESIGN PRINCIPLES, ETC.
YOU USED!
b. You must have a minimum 2 items in each of the above categories
Step 2 – Using your design sketch, have at least 2 people act as if they are going to use your form to
order a set of shirts for their “team”. Get feedback from them regarding their use of the interface (Don’t

just have them look at it. Have them USE it!) such as how easy it is for them to use your form to place an
order, intuitive process, etc.. Be sure to take detailed notes and record their feedback. You will need to
include the detailed feedback from both individuals in your Word document. Using their feedback, make
any needed changes to your design and record those in your Word document.
Record key points from the user’s feedback and any associated design changes in the Word document
from Step 1. Remember, be Explicit when you describe these changes and reasons for them in your Word
document.
Step 3 – Use Axure RP to create a project named Assignment2.
Design the form for the application program that will meet the requirements described above. Include a
graphic image FIU_Panther (downloadable from FIU’s site) and use color where appropriate.
Note: Your Axure RP prototype does not need to be interactive. Although you are encouraged to
include interactions, you may use placeholders instead.
Deliverables:
There are 2 deliverables for this assignment:
1. The Word document created in Steps 1 & 2.
2. Your Axure prototype – When you have completed this portion of your assignment, create a
prototype to turn in. You will need to upload the prototype onto a server and include a link to
the prototype in your Word document above.
Submit the Word document (be sure to include the link to your Axure prototype) into the Assignment 2
link on our course site. Do not zip and upload the Axure rp files instead of including a Web link (you can
upload your Axure rp files as a backup if you wish, but your prototype must be accessible via the Web).
In a future class, we will be briefly analyzing randomly selected designs (no names will be associated
with each design).
