Your presentation will identify an issue at your current or past workplace that needs to be
changed. For example, your topic could be as simple as moving the designated smoking area or
as serious as a production defect that is costing thousands of dollars of profit. The time limit
for your presentation is 3-5 minutes. Thus, the purpose of this Presentation is designed to
develop your ability to inform a company’s management team of a need for change.
The objective of the assignment is to verbally and visually identify the issue to your company’s
management team. This is an informative presentation and not a persuasive assignment: you
do not want to propose or argue for a solution to the issue in this presentation. Your goal is
threefold: to introduce the issue, to identify and illustrate its significance and potential
ramifications, and to close by requesting further discussion and future resolution of the issue.
2. Problem-Solving PowerPoint Presentation
The topic for this presentation will be continued from your Presentation 1. The management
team has given you 4-6 minutes for your presentation. The purpose of this Presentation is to
develop your ability to persuade a company’s management team to implement a proposed
change.
Your company’s management team agrees the issue you presented to them needs to be
addressed. They have assigned you the responsibility to investigate and research the issue and
to recommend a solution. The goal for your presentation is twofold: to identify and classify the
key causes of the issue and to propose specific steps/actions that should be taken to solve/fix
the issue, identifying the personnel and materials needed to carry out those steps. Be sure to
support your proposed solution with research, examples, graphics, and photos.
3. Persuasive PowerPoint Presentation
The purpose of this Presentation is to develop your ability to explain and persuade a company’s
management team that you are highly capable of designing and carrying out organizational
change.
In your 2nd Problem-Solving Presentation, you hopefully persuaded your company’s
management team that specific steps/actions needed to be taken to address a significant
workplace issue or problem. In this Presentation, you will present to the management team your
plan explaining how you will carry out those steps to address the issue or solve the
problem. Avoid repeating information and slides from your 2nd Presentation. Be sure to focus
on and discuss the following: actions, materials, personnel, timeline, and budget needed. In
addition, briefly discuss how your experience, ability, and credibility qualifies you to lead this
organizational change.
Your Presentation will have to include a table(s) and at least one graph (compare potential time,
costs, sick days, etc., if your change is not made), as well as other visuals to support or illustrate
the keyword text. The management team has given you 6-8 minutes for your presentation.
