Who Am I? Speech outline

I need a outline done with the topic “who am I?” the activities and events that shaped the person I’m today.The outline has to be 3 – 5 minutes long while reading it out loud. My name needs to be mentioned at least once in the outline. Needs to be doubled space. given the outline is about Who am I it can be difficult to write about it that’s why I’ll be providing details about myself with activities that shape who I’m.

Flint Water Crisis
Specific Purpose: To educate my audience about the ongoing crisis in Flint, Michigan.
I. ​Introduction
A. On April 25, 2014 a group of smiling officials in Flint, Michigan stood in front of television
cameras, held their glasses, and toasted to the switch.”. As stated by the New York Times.
B. The residents of Flint, Michigan ultimately suffered the consequences of the impulsive decision
to switch water systems.
Transition- Tonight i’m going to talk about the environmental injustice in Flint,Michigan, one that has
been going on for 6 years.
II. Body
A.Main point – Background (April 25, 2014)
1. How it happened
-According to The New York Times, “​Flint officials had failed to add needed corrosion
controls to the river water. Lead from the city’s old pipes leached into the water, causing alarmingly high
lead levels in the blood of many residents. ( Further summarize what happened)
2. Why it happened
– The water crisis in Flint, Michigan began in April 2014 after the city switched its
drinking water supply from the Detroit system to the flint river in a cost-cutting way to save the city from
what the NRDC states was “a $25 million deficit.”.
B. Main point – The Affect ( how its affecting life in flint michigan)
1. Health issues
– As stated by the NRDC The contaminated waters were contributing to a doubling of the
incidence of elevated blood lead levels in the city’s youngest generation. ( also talk about the skin
rashes that would appear on their skins from drinking the water)
C. Main point – What’s being done currently
1. Government interventions/ Resident interventions
– According to the NRDC after the​ ​release of test results in the fall of 2015 showing
elevated lead levels in Flint’s water—and its children—local residents joined with the NRDC and other
groups to petition the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to launch an immediate emergency
federal response to the disaster.
III.Conclusion​- Summarize
There is some evidence that the situation in Flint is improving, with the lead levels
remaining below the federal level of action. However, many Flint residents are still receiving
their water from lead pipes.. (restate main points again).
